Vacuums

August 12th, 2009 admin

One item you don’t see a lot of in the Caribbean is a full size vacuum. Most homes and apartments have tile floors, so there is not a lot of carpet to clean. When we moved from the US we had several good strong Oreck vacuums, a commercial model for the Pilates studio and a deluxe home model with an added cordless

Ceramic Tile Adds Beauty to A Pilates Space
One of the most versatile products to help change th elook and feel of your floors and walls in a Pilates studio or home Pilates space is ceramic tile . I have even seen ceramic tile with Pilates exercise designs! Different colors, textures, shapes, ad sizes can help you define space, separate space, or simply have a sturdy easy to clean floor in...
Your Pilates Business – Income
I have received a lot of comments and emails lately from people who are considering becoming Pilates teachers. It is a fabulous way to make a living, but how much of a living will you make? If you go into your Pilates business assuming that you will earn enough to buy a huge home filled with modern furniture , I can tell you that you have the wrong...
Pilates While Traveling
Whether you rent Outer Banks vacation homes or go to private island resorts, you will want to continue your Pilates routine while you are traveling. The best way is to do some research and find a studio where you are going to have some guided practice and maybe get some new corrections or new Pilates exercises. You can also travel with a mat and tubing...
May is the New June
Normally we associate June with weddings, but this year at the resort we have had numerous weddings and honeymoon couples in May, leading me to wonder if May is the new June. Since Tony and I moved to the Caribbean our received wedding invitations have dropped, so I have no real personal experience of wedding numbers and dates. Now we are having lots...
Pilates Studio Flooring
Another thing I am noticing as I teach around NYC is studio flooring. When I opened my studios in the US and Providenciales flooring was always a major concern, both from a teaching all day and from a client perspective. I ended up typically with industrial carpet or hard wood floor, but have also researched garage floor tiles and other comfortable...
Music In Your Home Gym
If you are designing a Pilates studio or gym for your home, don’t forget to include proper mounts for any media you want have, including TV, stereo, speakers, ipod docks, etc. You need things like that to be unobtrusive yet easily accessible, so choose carefully. I was forever moving the stereo and speakers around in my Pilates studio because...
Pilates Home Exercise Equipment on a Budget
Pilates Home Exercise Equipment on a Budget
Ouch! Pilates equipment is expensive. I’m not talking about rings, balls, bands and the like. I’m talking about the big stuff: reformers, chairs, tower set-ups. But a lot of us want those pieces as home exercise equipment. We’re working out on them at the studio and we’re thinking how great it would be to follow up at home....
The Joys of Pilates at Home
There is no doubt about it: workout schedules get crazy in the weeks around Christmas. Lots of people are traveling, studios and gyms close, and even if the studio is open it feels like there’s no time to get there. < /p> Well, this might be a very good time to find a sliver of time, and a corner of your house, and do some Pilates on your own....
Skin Care
I am extremely lucky in the skin department. I have always had smooth, clear skin even as a teenager. Some of my proudest moments here on Parrot Cay are when famous models and actresses ask me what I do to keep my skin looking so great, especially since I live in the Caribbean sun and never wear makeup (but always sunscreen!) So while I have never...
A Mobile Pilates Studio
Here is a great untapped idea for a Pilates business. Not sure if it would actually work, but it could be interesting for someone who is into RVing to begin with. A mobile RV Home and Pilates studio. Think about it – you could travel around the US and could train clients out of the RV. Don’t laugh; RV owners have plenty of disposable income...
