Pilates Exercise of the Week: Angel Arms
Angel arms is a Pilates fundamental exercise. It’s a little like making snow angels or flapping your arms like a bird. But we do it to build awareness of moving the arms to the sides without hunching our shoulders up to our ears, or popping our ribcage out to the front. That brings in some shoulder and core stabilizer muscles. Co-ordinate angel...
Stott Pilates Pink Toning Ball
I was just cleaning up my workout area at home when I dug down into a container I keep balls, bands, and rings in. At the bottom I found a set of small, pink toning balls from Stott Pilates that I got last year. I was like, wow, where did these come from? This is just what I need . I’ve been using the hand held toning balls a little more lately....

Breathing and Pilates
Breathing and Pilates
Image via Wikipedia Something many people don’t realize is that deep proper breathing in itself is a basic primary abdominal/core exercise. When we inhale our diaphragm stretches down towards the abdominal cavity, the pelvic floor muscles relax a bit, and the abdominal and back muscles stretch to allow the ribcage to expand and the lungs...

New Pilates Equipment!
New Pilates Equipment!
We have some new Pilates equipment in the studio at Parrot Cay and I for one am thrilled! When I first came to Parrot Cay in 2007 all I had to work with was one reformer and one wunda chair. Pilates Studio Flooring
Another thing I am noticing as I teach around NYC is studio flooring. When I opened my studios in the US and Providenciales flooring was always a major concern, both from a teaching all day and from a client perspective. I ended up typically with industrial carpet or hard wood floor, but have also researched garage floor tiles and other comfortable...
